Description
Two 3516 locomotive engines that were purchased from a rebuilder that went out of business. One appears to be ready to run, the other is for parts or rebuild. It was rebuilt, but has issues due to improper storage. We have performed a thorough inspection of both, and can provide many more pictures. Engine appears to have
been overhauled, dyno tested & painted. It would appear the engine had not been put back into service
after the overhaul. Engine looks to have freshly remanufactured crankshaft and/or new counterweights.
The connecting rod journals are in great shape. All pistons are new Cat pistons. Rod bearings are fresh
Cat bearings as are the thrust plates. The left turbo is locked but the right spins free, assuming the
turbine wheel is stuck to the housing. Cylinder liners have great cross hatch. Connecting rod caps show
no fretting.
Engine includes fuel pump, governor, starter, oil pan, pre-lube pumps, damper flywheel. There is also
some wiring for interfacing to a Locomotive.

Engine appears to have
been overhauled & dyno tested. It appears that there may have been an issue on cylinder #1 as it does
not have a cylinder head. Cylinder liners have great cross hatch but several have rust and have locked
the engine. Engine looks to have freshly remanufactured crankshaft and/or new counterweights. The
connecting rod journals are in great shape. All pistons are new Cat pistons. Rod bearings are fresh Cat
bearings as are the thrust plates. The right turbo is locked but the left spins free, assuming the turbine
wheel is stuck to the housing. Connecting rod caps show no fretting. Several new 0R cylinder packs
judging from connecting rod identification.
Engine includes fuel pump, governor, starter, oil pan, damper flywheel. There is also some wiring for
interfacing to a Locomotive.
Although we have performed an inspection, we recommend that the buyer does a full inspection prior to startup of the engine. The engines are sold as-is, if you know these engines, you know that the blocks and crankshafts are worth the asking price.
Immediate, non refundable payment of 00 via Paypal is required, the balance to be paid via wire transfer, cash on pickup, or certified check. Engines will not be released to buyer until all funds clear.
Engines will be loaded on a flat bed truck free of charge. We can arrange freight, or the buyer can provide.
Illinois buyers will need to pay sales tax unless tax exempt paperwork is provided.
