Description
1937 Coronation of King George VI Stamps; Sets from 60 Different British Colonies and Countries. This spectacular collection of sets has to be one of the most important and beautiful collections of its kind.
The are nicely set off by a dedicated White Ace Album.
King George VI was crowned King of Great Britain in May of 1937, after the death of his father Edward VII. The British Empire, which was in its last decade of glory, commemorated the event by having each Colony issue a special three-stamp set depicting George VI and his Queen, Elizabeth. The stamp depicts Elizabeth on the left, and George VI on the right, separated by crossed scepters. Each stamp was a different color, but the color code was different for each country, as was the denomination of each stamp, according to the currency in each Colony. A few colonies used other designs or overprints of British stamps.

What a list! The sun never set on the British Empire! Oddly, India "the jewel in the crown" of the British Empire, is not represented here--I don't know why. Same for Palestine, and no doubt other colonies and protectorates. How many of those countries are still British? Assembling this collection of stamps must have been a big logistic chore.
Most of the three-stamp sets have modest value, but two of them have higher value: Hong Kong, and the Newfoundland set, shown in the pictures.
Photo #1 shows the first page of the White Ace Album.
Photo #2 shows the first grouping of stamps with a British stamp, and then three overprints. The stamp design is not the one used for the majority of sets, but is similar.
Photo #3 shows the three set stamp common to most of the Colonies.
Photo #4 shows an interesting set of stamps from Newfoundland which have little in common with the other stamps, but was issued to commemorate the coronation. Newfoundland also issued the common three-stamp set.
Photo #5 shows the Newfoundland three-stamp set, a Nauru set showing just the new King, and the New Zealand commemorative which is slightly different from the common stamp, and also shows up as an overprint.
Photo #6 shows a different design for Southern Rhodesia.
Photo #7 and #8 show stamps from South West Africa and The Union of South Africa which again have a different design for the series.
Photo #9 shows the album, which is nicely bound in dark maroon faux leather. The Kennedy half dollar is to show scale, but is not included in the lot. The album measures 11 1/2 by 11 inches.
We will ship this album to you in a medium priority box.

Terms of Sale
Our return policy is simple. You are
guaranteed
to be satisfied. If you, as the buyer, are unhappy with your purchase, you will have 14 days in which to return it, no questions asked. The only exception to this deals with silver bullion. The price fluctuations in precious metals can sometimes be extreme, both up and down. When we sell bullion, we always sell under spot and let you know when the spot price was applied. If the price goes up, it is in your favor. If the price goes down, it is not a reason to return the bullion coins. Prices fluctuate – that is the precious metals market.
We are hopeful that the pictures and descriptions are such that there should be no reason to return an item. If you do wish to return the item for any reason, our return policy applies
. I
f you do return an item, we will refund your payment minus shipping and handling costs upon receipt of the item or replace the item with an agreed upon substitute, again, after receipt of the item.
Should we feel that anyone is abusing the return policy such as sending back items repeatedly, it will be to our discretion as to whether to continue selling items to that individual.
Service:
E&L Coins strives to give 5 STAR service by providing quality coins, currency or stamps at a reasonable price. We state up front what our policies are, shipping rates and shipping frequency. When you give 4 STARS, it may seem like a great score for instance a 4 in Shipping Time means "Quickly", eBay, however, considers this to be a sub-par mark. Their standards require all sellers to maintain a 4.8 rating and above or be penalized with higher fees and more.
If you are pleased with a transaction, please respond with all 5 STARS – THANK YOU. We will ALWAYS provide a positive rating to you as the buyer once a payment has been made. We hope you will consider providing positive feedback to us upon receipt of your item. If you are not pleased, let us know via email and we will work to make it a 5 STAR experience.
